Frequently asked questions on ROI

What is ROI versus APR?

Essentially the same thing, different measure.

ROI = Return on investment, quantified as the number of days it takes for the total projected income to equal the investment amount. If your investment value holds, you’ve essentially doubled your money at that point.

APR = Annual percentage rate. Can be calculated as 365/ROI.

ROI of 365 days is an APR of 100%

Why are the yields different across Chikn/Roostr/FarmLand LP’s?

Investing or playing this game is more complicated than simply looking at what has the highest yield and going for that. Typically the higher yield comes with higher risk.

The consensus within the Chiknverse is that Chikn will always be king. Therefore people are willing to pay a premium for Chikn because of the expectations of greater future earnings/utility, not to mention lower maintenance. As a result, Chikn has the lower ROI of all three NFT options. Conversely, staking your LP on Farmland potentially has the highest yield. However the current reward token on FarmLand, $Feed, is finite and may run out early 2023 or even before. The rewards after this are an unknown, and likely to be based on partnership projects. There are also Impermeant Loss risks that need to be considered when pooling a pair of tokens for LP to stake on your FarmLand.

Then there’s also speculation on future utility. Roostrs are rumoured to be the most useful asset for the upcoming coq fighting because they’re easier to level up indefinitely for higher KG (strength?), whereas Chikns get exponentially more expensive to feed, not to mention feed will eventually run out…

You lost me there, what should I buy first?

The market efficiencies should mean there are no wrong choices. Try a chikn if you have the funds, or start with a roostr or two. If you’ve got plenty of Avax handy, grab a bunch of both, and stack LP on a fertilised FarmLand.
